In Baltimore, as in much of the nation, the face of undocumented immigrants is Latinx (with and without white skin privilege). However, there are other populations of undocumented immigrants: Black faces from Black and Brown countries, individuals and families that are caught up in America's relentless war not only against undocumented immigrants but against Black and Brown people. Please join Baltimore Racial Justice Action and guests in a panel discussion on current and historic issues around anti-Blackness, immigration, and the undocumented experience.

This PBS documentary examines the origin, history and impacts of the 1882 law that made it illegal for Chinese workers, and later those from all Asian nations, to come to the U.S. and for Chinese nationals already here to become U.S. citizens. The first in a long line of acts targeting Asian people for exclusion, it remained in place for more than 60 years. Please join BRJA to screen, reflect, and discuss the long-lasting impacts of these racist immigration policies.

Building Racial Justice in Baltimore 32-hour Workshop Series

This workshop series is BRJA’s introductory class for white people. Participants will explore the historical development as well as the contemporary implications of racism in the United States, as well as our own racialization as white people. Participants will work with learning partners to develop an anti-racist action plan to help them deepen their own understanding and to grow their practice of taking conscious action for racial justice in their own circles of influence. Participation will require a commitment of 32 hours of classroom time, plus 2-4 hours between sessions for reading and meeting with a learning partner.
